The report found Nashville’s local health care ecosystem grew 4.7 percent in 2024 compared to the figure of the previous year. The industry contributed $30.7 billion in earnings and $2.2 billion in taxes while supporting 372,160 jobs across the region.

A snapshot of the scale of Nashville’s health care industry shows the region is home to 8,358 health care business locations (up 5.6 percent year over year), 17 publicly traded health care companies and more than 900 service providers.

The news comes as Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell issued a proclamation Monday declaring this week the inaugural Nashville Health Care Week.

Nashville Health Care Council President Apryl Childs-Potter said in a release the proclamation is a recognition of health care’s role as both an economic driver and a defining part of the city’s identity.

“As we mark the Council’s 30th anniversary and release the 2025 Annual Economic Report, this proclamation, alongside our 3rd annual Sessions conference, underscores Nashville’s legacy as The Healthcare City and the innovation, investment, and collaboration that will shape its future,” Childs-Potter said in the release.

Founded in 1995, the Nashville Health Care Council is a membership association for health care executives with more than 350 corporate members.
