President Donald Trump last month announced additional tariffs on imports of timber, lumber and other wood products.

Trump began implementing — and reversing — a range of tariff regulations soon after he took office earlier this year, provoking a range of reactions from the real estate industry. Canadian pension funds, for instance, are pulling back on investing in U.S. real estate. Chinese are also looking elsewhere for industrial plays, though private equity giant Blackstone has stayed active in the space, no matter the tariff news.

Countries can negotiate with the U.S. to improve the latest round of tariffs, which Trump has claimed are responses to national security threats. He also noted that the United Kingdom, the European Union and Japan will be less affected by the recent measures.

Future tariffs affecting the building sector are likely on the horizon. For instance, the administration is looking into tariffs on polysilicon, a key component of solar panels.

Here are the product-specific tariffs in place affecting the construction industry, many of which stack on top of country-specific reciprocal tariffs already in place.
