Recently, BYD’s DM technology, recognized for its pioneering strength and industry benchmark status in the plug-in hybrid field, has once again been included in Tsinghua University’s automotive engineering textbook and featured on the cover. It is noteworthy that BYD’s DM technology has been incorporated into Tsinghua University’s textbooks twice—first in the 2021 edition of “Principles of Automotive Power Systems” and then in the 2025 edition of “Automotive Structure—Power Systems,” making it an important reference case for automotive education in universities.

In 2021, BYD released its fourth-generation DM technology, which received high recognition from the market and industry for its innovative features, such as simplifying the engine design, eliminating the transmission system, and introducing an “electric-first” hybrid architecture. This technology was included in the required textbook for the major, “Principles of Automotive Power Systems,” published by Tsinghua University’s editorial committee, and featured on the cover of the textbook.

In 2024, BYD launched its fifth-generation DM technology, further enhancing its core components, achieving a fuel consumption of 2.9L per 100 kilometers in electric loss conditions, thus ushering in an era of fuel consumption of 2. Additionally, it innovatively applied AI large models and AI energy consumption management strategies. By 2025, BYD continued to accelerate its pace of technological innovation, achieving a further evolution of the fifth-generation DM technology within a year, reducing the fuel consumption in electric loss conditions to 2.6L.

BYD’s DM technology has once again been included in the 2025 edition of “Automotive Structure—Power Systems” by Tsinghua University’s editorial committee, appearing prominently on the cover, which fully illustrates the academic community’s recognition of BYD’s DM technology as groundbreaking, leading, and highly representative of the industry. It can be said that BYD’s DM technology is a “required course” for Chinese automotive professionals. Moreover, BYD’s influence extends into the field of basic education, frequently appearing in primary and secondary school textbooks and exams, including college entrance exams, becoming a vivid example for students to engage with cutting-edge automotive technology.

Meanwhile, BYD has shown remarkable performance in the new energy vehicle market, consistently topping various sales charts. From January to June of this year, BYD’s sales exceeded 2.14 million units, a year-on-year increase of 33%; among these, overseas sales of passenger cars and pickups exceeded 470,000 units, securing the title of global sales champion in the new energy vehicle market. This success is supported by strong technological backing, as BYD has invested heavily in research and development and focused on new energy technology for nearly 20 years, dominating the patent authorization rankings recently released by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center in the fields of new energy, pure electric, and hybrid vehicles.

BYD’s achievement in dominating the market, technology, and academia is not only a remarkable result of its own development but also highlights how Chinese automotive companies, represented by BYD, have rapidly risen in the new energy vehicle sector through independent innovation, becoming a vivid reflection and powerful embodiment of the rise of China’s new energy vehicle industry.返回搜狐,查看更多
