Hartford HealthCare is adding two new hospitals to their system after purchasing them from Prospect Medical Holdings.
According to a statement, the Connecticut-based system bid $86.1 million on Manchester Memorial and Rockville General Hospital.
“Preserving Rockville General Hospital and the future of Eastern Connecticut Health Network has been a priority, and I welcome this positive development for our community and region,” Vernon Mayor Dan Champagne said Monday.
“I am looking forward to meeting with the leadership of Hartford HealthCare and learning about their plans to returns services to our hospital,” Champagne added.
After filing for bankruptcy in January, Prospect-owned hospitals were under fire for mismanagement in the workplace and poor facility maintenance.
Now, Hartford HealthCare said they will work on the buildings to continue serving local communities.
Two major healthcare providers in Connecticut want to expand their networks by purchasing smaller hospitals, including those owned by Prospect Medical Holdings, which is in bankruptcy proceedings.
