Chen Gen, Deputy Director of the New Energy Power Center at Dongfeng Motor R&D Headquarters, introduced that at the tenth party congress at the end of 2024, Dongfeng Motor proposed the goal of “three leaps and one new direction,” which includes leaps in new energy, intelligence, and internationalization, aimed at better coordinating business development and employee growth, propelling Dongfeng into a new phase. The Mach pure electric drive and range extender systems are both important new energy powertrain platforms under the Mach Power sub-brand. The Mach pure electric drive has completed the development and production of its third generation of electric drives. The iD4-160 electric drive assembly, representing the fourth generation of Mach pure electric drives, will achieve comprehensive breakthroughs in energy efficiency, NVH, and intelligent control. The Mach range extender system DFMR90 has an energy conversion rate that reaches the industry’s highest production level of 3.66kWh/L, earning the “Energy Efficiency Star” certification from the China Automotive Research Institute. This range extender system uses the industry’s first production-certified hybrid-specific engine with a thermal efficiency exceeding 45%, and the same platform model is the first engine in the industry to break the 47% thermal efficiency barrier. It aims to achieve even higher thermal efficiency by the end of this year, maintaining its leading position in the industry. Chen Gen also stated that Mach Power has fully covered all passenger car brands within the Dongfeng Group, where the Dongfeng Yipai eπ008 range extender version and Dongfeng Nano 06 have both achieved good sales and market reputation.

As a flagship model launched after the establishment of Yipai Technology, the Dongfeng Yipai eπ008 range extender version focuses on family travel scenarios, illustrating the “Big Comfort Home” concept with 108 detail upgrades. It also features 3C super-fast charging technology, reducing charging time from 30% to 80% to just 15 minutes, and with the DFMR90 range extender paired with high-efficiency electric drive, fuel consumption can be as low as 4.7L/100km. The “National Smart Pure Electric SUV” Dongfeng Nano 06, launched in May of this year, boasts an electric drive high energy efficiency ratio of 92.7%, with 3C fast charging enhancing charging power, allowing it to charge 100 kilometers in just 5 minutes. In the future, this vehicle will also be equipped with the new generation Mach E electric drive iD4-160 system, characterized by extreme integration, lightweight efficiency, safety, quiet operation, intelligent control, and autonomous manageability.

Yu Yuefeng, Deputy General Manager of Yipai Technology Sales Company and General Manager of Yipai Marketing Division, introduced that Yipai Technology was established on June 26, 2025, by integrating three major independent brands: Dongfeng Fengshen, Yipai, and Nano, becoming the main force of Dongfeng’s independent new energy. After its establishment, Yipai Technology has centered on user needs, collaborating across the entire value chain, and has seen terminal sales grow positively for three consecutive months. In August 2025, Yipai Technology’s monthly sales reached 29,118 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 62.39%, setting a new high since the company’s establishment; cumulative sales from January to August totaled 163,815 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 36.6%, demonstrating strong sales momentum. Behind this sales growth, the Nano 06 and Yipai eπ008, equipped with the new generation Mach E electric drive system and range extender system, have showcased Dongfeng’s deep exploration in matching technology with user needs. Yu Yuefeng also revealed that Yipai Technology will accelerate core technology upgrades in 2026, gradually applying core technologies such as 16,000-ton integrated die-casting, solid-state batteries, and ultra-kilovolt electric drive platforms, and will collaborate closely with Huawei to accelerate the integration of Qian Kun intelligent driving and Hongmeng cockpit, with the first high-end intelligent SUV set to launch next year.

The iD4 electric drive assembly is Dongfeng Motor’s new generation electric drive system, covering power from 70 to 400kW, utilizing a deeply integrated architecture of motor, reducer, and controller, featuring high efficiency, high power density, and silent comfort. Intelligence runs throughout the entire lifecycle of the iD4. The high-efficiency oil-cooled flat wire motor, combined with proprietary SiC power modules and intelligent algorithms, can stably output at ultra-high speeds of 20,000rpm, balancing power bursts and NVH. The built-in health diagnostic system can monitor key parameters such as motor temperature and bearing status in real-time, achieving fault early warning and lifespan prediction through big data analysis, providing users with “proactive” safety assurance and further enhancing product reliability and user experience. The development of the iD4 electric drive assembly marks a critical leap for China’s electric drive technology from “following” to “leading.”

The Dongfeng Mach Power Intelligent Range Extender DFMR90 aims to address core issues such as range anxiety, NVH, and safety of the three electric systems for new energy users, featuring worry-free range, quiet operation, and intelligent control. It employs the industry’s first hybrid-specific engine with thermal efficiency exceeding 45%, and the thermal efficiency of the same platform hybrid engine exceeds 47%, achieving an energy conversion efficiency of 3.66kWh/L (the highest in mass production). It is also equipped with AI-Control intelligent power control technology, which, based on AI big data models, accurately excavates typical driving conditions, fully covers user driving styles, dynamically optimizes the oil-electric distribution in various scenarios, and achieves intelligent recognition of people and roads, improving overall energy consumption by approximately 5%. At the same time, the system controls the noise increment from the range extender intervention to less than 1dB(A), achieving imperceptible range extension and equal noise levels for oil and electricity, and employs optimal filter design, electromagnetic isolation of high and low voltage systems, and other technologies, meeting EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Class 3 protection level and ASIL C (Automotive Safety Integrity Level) functional safety requirements, ensuring more reliable power safety output.
